Day 1 – Introduction

A bit of administration:

Due the dangers encountered during the last adventure, when the Guardians ended up in real wartime situations, Duke Eric has supplemented the group with two new warriors: A dwarf warrior, and a human dervish. Also, Bibblewig has been recalled by a high druid, to discuss the events of the previous adventure. In his place, a new druid has been assigned. Only Darby, the dervish, has made it to Dell at this time.

Beginning:

The adventure began on June 25, four days after the solstice celebrations, which had been much more boisterous than usual. The last few days had been cleaning up, calming people down, moving people around in cells, and generally trying to get things back under control.

The story itself began with the team receiving a formal invitation to a reception at the Duke’s reception hall that evening. Some pre-party investigations revealed that nobles from all over the area were coming into town, and that wine from the Duke’s cellar was being distributed around town, to be released at 7pm, so the whole city could toast the announcement that would occur. There were few rumors about what the rumor would be, aside from some speculation that the Duke might have a secret betrothal to announce.

At the reception itself:

The party was met by Erlord Edra, who thanked the party for their help in fixing his house, in the previous adventure.

Viral was approached by Tradesman Olwar, a local shipping master, about a problem he’d been having. He asked the party to visit him the next day at their convenience.

Duke Eric announced the birth of Lord Lohrin’s firstborn son, to be known as Erlord Nim.

A message came that the Green Dragon Inn was having a disturbance, and the guardians were asked to deal with it.

The Green Dragon Inn:

The inn was packed with nearly 70 people. Most were trying to stay out of the way, but a group of 6 were fighting in the middle of the room, and a few scuffles were going on around the outside edge.

Viral attempted to calm things down, with repeated castings of calm emotions. The spell did not work as well as it should have.

Fen handled border issues, outside the inn, working the exits on the side and back of the inn.

Eyot used web and confusion spells to calm the populace, though his castings went astray due to the distractions caused by Kiran’s misbehavings.

Ethan and Fido attempted to calm things down by subduing the most aggressive combatants, while Darby attempted to bring calm to the room where possible. When some of the combatants went down, it was noticed that the lights flickered significantly.

Things got both worse and better when Fido, under no orders other than to “shield bash” sent a combatant through a wall, killing him. This ended the combat, but left Fido in the lockup, waiting a review of the case.

And a review of the scene showed nothing out of the ordinary, other that some very faint traces of magic on the floor, mixed in with the beer, sweat, blood and tears.
