Organizations

Many groups exist in the world. They vary from pseudo-religious cults, mercenary companies, business arrangements, or any other type imaginable.

Order of the Crescent Moon – In the western plains of Grenmond lays the Shattered Pillar, a great wonder of the ancient world. Its heights reach the clouds, and though it is broken and appears to be in the process of toppling, it is magically held in place. The mysterious Order of the Crescent Moon uses the great tower as its stronghold, only allowing the members of the Order inside to explore the tower’s secrets.

Order of the Silver Dragon – The Order of the Silver Dragon is a secretive knightly order. They maintain keeps and towers all across the Three Kingdoms and it is said their fortresses dot the landscape clear around the world.

The Watchers – The depths of the Undermount Pass are home to many strange creatures. The cult-like group known simply as the Watchers make their home in those abandoned halls. What exactly they watch is anyone’s guess.

The Seekers – Another strange cult known only as the Seekers seem to complement the Watchers. They wander the lands haphazardly, claiming to search for something which they cannot describe.

Porter’s Union – Founded by a small group of entrepreneurial mages, the Porter’s Union offers magical transportation services to whoever can afford it. Their skills with teleportation spells are unequaled. Their union houses can be found in any metropolitan city, and they are constantly updating available destinations.

The Three Blades – Its headquarters in Farmington, the Three Blades acts as a body to certify and do collective bargaining for mercenary companies. Besides the union aspects of the organization, the Three Blades also offers banking services to its members.

Farm Council – The Farm Council meets 4 times a year in Farmington to determine, amongst other things, prices and trade routes for agricultural goods produced by Freeland farmers. All forms of farming groups are represented, from the wealthy land barons, to the independent farmer.

Ayban Trade Council – The Ayban Trade Council was once the ruling body for the islands that made up the nation of Ayban before it was broken during its civil war. Today, the heads of the largest and most powerful merchant guilds meet in Swynport to determine trade routes and make other high level trade arrangements.

Imperial Academy – Located in Dalkeep, the Imperial Academy is a place of higher learning that all Citizens of the Empire may attend free of charge. Those that do not have Citizen status, or students from other nations, must pay tuition to attend classes. Wizards attending the Academy’s School of Arcane Arts may choose the Evoker or Illusionist specialist variants presented in Unearthed Arcana (p. 62,63). Any spellcaster studying here may summon a creature using the Cold Element template as outlined in the Manual of the Planes (p. 195) when casting a summon monster spell.

Woodcrest University – Grenmond is home to the most prestigious school of higher education in the Three Kingdoms, Woodcrest University. Woodcrest hosts a very diverse faculty, offering studies in combat, agriculture or art for example. Wizards attending the University’s School of Arcane Arts may choose the Abjurer, Diviner or Conjurer specialist variants presented in Unearthed Arcana (p. 59,60). Any spellcaster studying here may summon a creature using the Wood Element template as outlined in the Manual of the Planes (p. 196) when casting a summon monster spell.

Library of Foyene – The city of Foyene is built into the bluffs of the Seawall Ridge, at the edge of the Veldt. One of the caves holds a collection of historical works thousands of years old, dating from before and during the fall of the Great Empire. The draw of these works has gathered intellectuals from around the world to form the oldest school of higher education throughout the Three Kingdoms. Since the study of arcane magic is prohibited in Maldova, alchemy, engineering and other sciences take more of a focus. Artificers attending the library can be considered to have the simulacrum spell prerequisite for the Effigy Master prestige class presented in Complete Arcane (p. 30).

Mercynand University – Mercynand University, located in Farmington, does not carry the prestige and lengthy history that other schools in the region have, but that does not seem to deter applicants. Studies here focus more on agricultural aspects, though students may choose a course of study in any area. Wizards attending the University’s School of Arcane Arts may choose the Enchanter, Necromancer or Transmuter specialist variants presented in Unearthed Arcana (p. 60,63). Any spellcaster studying here may summon a creature using the Anarchic and Axiomatic templates as outlined in the Manual of the Planes (p. 197, 198) when casting a summon monster spell.
